CHS has seen the “Bulldog” and the “Quattro,” but it is time to make way for a new show. This year the TV Production class is premiering the “Week End Edition.”
Senior Scott Schuler replaces Casey Stein, Julia Clare and Evan Vogel, this year as the student who ultimately oversees the production of the Friday show. Schuler is the man behind the creation as the writer, director and producer of the show. In addition to two years in TV Production class at CHS, Schuler has attended film camps and started writing sketches this summer.
“All the kids that I have worked with have always been very creative but not always organized,” TV Production teacher Jessica Speck said. “I am lucky because Scott is both talented and very organized.”
While students go to TV Production class every day, they only spend half the period on the Thursday before the show airs working on the filming and final production of the Friday show. Schuler is in TV Production during a different period than the rest of the students so that he can focus all of his attention on producing the show.
“The only people who are on the show every week are me and the anchors, seniors Steven Rigaux and Kirstie Appleton,” Schuler said. “I’m not having the same actors doing the sketches every week, but each actor will be introduced in the show’s introduction each week.”
Unlike last year, there is now a daily TV show, so there is extra pressure on Schuler to make this show unique and original. Instead of hard news, the show intends to focus more on lighter entertainment such as sketches and ongoing series.
“The cool thing about the show is that it is going to run parallel to reality in that the characters in the show will hopefully interact with the same things that CHS students interact with,” Schuler said.
