Jake and Amir are two best friends that work together, annoy each other, and make hilarious videos together. When two witty co-workers are signed by a hit comedy website to make semi-weekly videos, the concoction is bound to be a success.
A mini-series crafted by the humor-connoisseurs at CollegeHumor.com, Jake and Amir is about two co-workers, Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld, who make sketches documenting their experiences at the office.
The plot revolves around Amir’s man-crush on Jake, while Jake can barely tolerate Amir. Jake is the seemingly “normal” man in the two-some, whereas Amir embodies the stalker-esque idiom, with his acts of obsession being the core of the show’s humor.
The comical duo initially worked as writers for the CollegeHumor Company after college. Their inspiration was instigated when they sat across from each other at the CollegeHumor office in New York and began shooting videos of themselves just for fun. After their videos received positive feedback, they decided to take their hobby to the next level.
The boys registered their website, jakeandamir.com in May 2007 and have since created over 160 short videos. Jake and Amir is a sub-series and property of CollegeHumor, one of the biggest humor outlets on the internet.
CollegeHumor was created in 1999, and began as a small site targeted towards young adults. It features essays, articles, pictures, links, videos, comics and interviews and has flourished into a profitable domain following The CollegeHumor Show premiere on MTV aired in February 2009.
Jake and Amir strive to publish videos every 2 days. Their rapid-fire banter, Jake’s quick wit and Amir’s crazy antics to attract Jake’s attention have earned jakeandamir.com celebrity status. It is hard not to get enthralled with their daily encounters and followers tend to find themselves watching five to six videos in a seating.
As the hysteria of YouTube, FML.com and FunnyJunk have grown passé, Jake and Amir is a new realm of internet entertainment to explore, not to mention an optimal apparatus of procrastination.
