Founding Farmers, the most booked U.S. restaurant on opentable.com, is coming to Park Potomac November 3.
Founding Farmers, which opened in 2008 in Washington, D.C., offers American food made from fresh farm ingredients. What is unique about this restaurant is that it is owned exclusively by American family farmers.
“It’s not just the quality of our food,” Concept Developer and Managing Partner Dan Simons said. “It is the principles of the farmers that create the concept of Founding Farmers.”
Founding Farmers is also LEED gold certified, meaning that the restaurant is environmentally friendly in its construction materials and cooling and heating system.
According to a Sept. 13 Washington Post article, the new Founding Farmers will hold 240 guests rather than the 260 at the DC location. However, it will also have outdoor seating starting in the spring that will accommodate 80 more guests.
“A lot is different,” Simons said. “We used different woods and fabrics, and also the menu is 30-35 percent different and new.”
The restaurant offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and also holds an Afternoon Social time from 2 to 5 p.m., with an array of plates for the light eaters who want a bite to eat before dinner.
“We want this restaurant to be seen differently than the D.C. location,” Simons said. “So if you work in D.C., you can eat at Founding Farmers for lunch and the next day you can go to dinner at Founding Farmers in Potomac.”
Prices range from $10-30, and the menu includes options from the Bananas Foster New Orleans Style Stuffed French Toast to the Skirt Steak and Enchiladas. A vegan menu with many tasty options is also available.
According to Simons, their “knockout” dishes are the Chicken and Waffles and the Pot Roast, while his favorite is the Simple Plate With Fish.
Founding Farmers is a very popular place, with a normal weekday wait of 30 to 45 minutes, but weekend wait time can move rapidly to two hours, so it’s best to make a reservation to ensure prompt seating.
