Artists are displaying their work in tents, restaurants are giving out free samples of food, live music is playing and Rockville is a buzz with activity.
This year, the annual Hometown Holidays festival will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26 in Rockville Town Center.
“My family and I go every year,” junior Carly Kabelac said. “It is always a lot of fun, and both my parents and I like it.”
On the music side, bands including the Brothers Osborne, John Browns Body, the Fighting Jamesons and American Aquarium will be playing on one of the five stages located around Rockville Town Center.
While listening to music, people can try some of Rockville’s best food. In the Taste of Rockville event, people can pay $1.25 per ticket for restaurant samples and dishes. Restaurants include Potomac Pizza, Carmen’s Italian Ice and Rockland’s Barbeque and Grilling Company.
On Memorial Day, May 26, the 70th annual Memorial Day parade will take place starting at 9 a.m.
The weekend will be filled with family-friendly activities, including children’s performances at the Plaza Stage, rides and a sandbox near the Bud Light Beach Stage.
“My favorite part is getting to eat all the food,” Kabelac said. “There aren’t many activities that everyone in my family enjoys anymore, but Hometown Holidays is great because there is something for everyone.”
