The Grammys is a highly anticipated award show that recognizes the most talented music artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, Billie Eilish and more. The Grammys occurred on Feb. 2 at 8:00 PM. Not only are there many awards given in different categories and across genres but there are also live performances.
The Grammys always hold controversy whether it is over the outfits, performances or who wins in each category. Celebrities and their brand deals or collaborations lead to some amazing and disappointing outfits.
Sabrina Carpenter wore a long silky light blue dress with a low, open back and feathers around the waist and the bottom of the dress. This color and style suit her complexion well it also fits very well with her current music and the color scheme of her latest album “Short & Sweet”, which she won best pop vocal album for. She also performed a short but sweet set of one of her most popular songs “Espresso” which she sang slower than the studio-recorded version.
Doechii’s outfit also fit the style of her newest album very well with big puffy pants and a short-sleeved blazer. Doechii also won a very well-deserved award for best rap album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal” making her the third female winner since the category’s invention. She also performed her hit song “DENIAL IS A RIVER,” which, like previous performances, includes intricate and impressive choreography.
Beyonce won Best Country Album for “Cowboy Carter,” which made history by making her the holder of the most Grammys at an impressive number of 35. While Beyonce winning this category was slightly controversial since she isn’t a country artist and many people do not consider this album real country music as it leans on the pop side of country, it is well deserved. She accepted her award with shock in a shimmering gold dress with intricate white detailing.
Kendrick Lamar also won a Grammy award for the hit song “Not Like Us” which is known to be a diss track on rapper Drake. This win as the song of the year and record of the year was greatly celebrated as the song is extremely popular. He wore a full denim suit with a matching baseball cap. While jeans are considered to be more casual than what might be expected from the Grammys he dressed it up with a thick gold chain.
Shakira won best Latin pop album for “LAS MUJERES YA NO LLORAN” and wore a bright orange body suit under a sheer black dress with intricate sparkly designs. She also performed in a gold two-piece set including a long stringy skirt and a cropped golden top with gold fringe hanging down. This performance was radiating with energy and warranted her well-deserved award.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Die With a Smile”. This song has been extremely popular since its release. They also performed “California Dreaming” in tribute to the LA fires which featured the duo’s dynamic vocal pairing.
Every year the Grammys are a highly anticipated event that highlights the most popular artists, songs and albums of the year. This always creates some controversy about who is the most deserving of certain awards.
