The baseball team can relax now that the school has named its new coach. Out of the five top candidates who applied for the job, Scott Blackwood was chosen to lead the Bulldogs into their spring season.
“[Blackwood] came highly recommended and is an outstanding baseball player according to people from around the county,” athletic director David Kelley said.
Kelley has a three step plan for the Bulldogs. Step one: meet the coach. Step two: get ready for March 1. Step three: start winter workouts.
“[Blackwood] will contact me about [setting up] a player meeting,” Kelley said.
According to Kelley, Blackwood, who is a special education paraeducator at Jones Lane Elementary school in Gaithersburg, was highly recommended by the interview panel due to his enthusiasm and innovative ideas.
Kelley declined to comment on who the other candidates were, however he mentioned that an unspecified number of CHS parents interviewed for the position.
