The baseball team will kick off its season March 21 in a revenge game against Sherwood. Last year, the team fell in the regional semifinals to the Warriors.
To prepare for the season, the team held offseason workouts three times a week and ran twice a week. The players also tried to hit and throw every week.
“We have to work hard every day to get better because there’s always somebody working harder than you,” senior captain Russ Rentfro said.
The Bulldogs will look for new players to step up this year to replace the players who graduated last year. Along with Rentfro, seniors Matthew Bothers and Brian Green will be key players, as well as juniors Ian Shemer, Nick O’Brien and Danny Weiss.
According to Rentfro, the team will need to “play as a team, not individuals,” and the end goal will be to progress further than last year and win the state championship.
Following the game against Sherwood, the team’s next game will be March 26 against Magruder.
