After a disappointing losing record and early exit from the playoffs last year, the softball team has looked to turn around and improve its game before the season opener March 21 at Sherwood.
The Bulldogs will return seniors including returning captain Maddie Ulanow, and sophomore
Katie Jenkins will be joining the team after transferring from Holy Cross.
“I think this year we are motivated to win a lot more games than we did last year,” senior Kara Cuddapah said. “The keys to success this year will be being able to play well together, having a strong offense, bunting a lot and lastly, pitching.”
The Lady Bulldogs will rely on their bats to come alive this season as that will be a key to the team’s success. In past years this has been a weak aspect to CHS’ game.
“We need to work on hitting because last year we didn’t score a lot of runs and didn’t hit the ball as much as we wanted,” head coach James Collins said. “We want to get the ball in play a lot more and force the other team to make errors.”
The Lady Bulldogs will also face Magruder March 25 at home.
