Eric Guerci of B-CC was re-elected as the MCPS Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) April 27.

Every student attending a secondary school in MCPS was eligible to vote and 84.1 percent of them cast ballots. Guerci won a tight race over Alexander Abrosimov of Richard Montgomery 54 percent to 46 percent. He will begin his term as the 39th SMOB on July 1.

“I am humbled by the unwavering support that my peers and students have placed in me to keep moving MCPS forward,” Guerci said.

Guerci has not only served as SMOB before, but has also been Vice President and Finance committee chair to the Montgomery County Regional SGA and was formerly the senior policy advisor to the SMOB advisory council.

“I know we have a tough year ahead, but working together, I know that we can tackle the challenges and make more progress than ever,” Guerci said.
