The football team found their undefeated season slip away Oct. 23 to the reigning Maryland 4A state champion Sherwood Warriors 17-0. Not only did this mark the first blemish in an otherwise perfect season for the Bulldogs, but the impressive Bulldog offense was held scoreless.
With Sherwood coming of their first loss in 20 games, it would be important for CHS to score first and keep Sherwood deflated. The Bulldogs got the ball first, but were unable to capitalize on their first drive being forced to punt.
The Bulldog defense showed up to play though. It took until the second quarter for the Warriors and their powerful rushing attack led by Cyrus Britt to get on the board by way of a six-yard Britt touchdown run. Sherwood would add one more field goal in the second quarter keeping CHS in the game at the half 10-0.
Sherwood never found themselves able to run away with the game, eventually just milking the clock en route to a 17-0 victory.
CHS will close out the season with a game at B-CC Oct. 30 and then senior night Nov. 6 against Whitman in a game that could prove to be crucial for playoff seeding.
