For many CHS students, driving in the school parking lot can be risky. Since the start of the school year, a car has crashed into a pole and two groups of students have been involved in separate collisions.
While only three collisions have happened, students’ perceptions are that there have been a lot more.
“I don’t think there have been any more [this year] than any other year,” security guard Chris Pucciarelli said. “A couple of them [just] happened so close together.”
In the crashes that occurred this year, cars were disabled and the police were called, but no one was seriously injured.
“Overconfidence is a big mistake,” Pucciarelli said. “The vehicle is a weapon. [Students] pull out without looking left and right, they do illegal U-turns, they carry kids they’re not supposed to.”
