Lunch is only a short 50 minute and all of it should be able to be used by students for what they need to do, not standing in what seems to be an endless line.
The CHS lunch line is often backed up with a line extending down the wall of the cafeteria. This makes it hard for students to get to classes and takes away from the only hour of free time the student gets during the day.
According to Sophomore Tony Davis, who waits in the lunch line every day, he will spend about ten minutes waiting every day.
Spending this time to get your food can severely cut into your lunch time, which can be used for other more productive activities.
For many teachers, the best time to get one-on-one help is during lunch. Many students rely on lunch time to be able to go talk to their teachers and to make up things they have missed. It is not fair to take away from this time because the student has to eat./
There are 4 built in lunch lines in the cafeteria, however on any given day only 2 of them are open for service.
According to Davis, spending this much time in the lunch line can make it a hassle for him to see teachers.
It would greatly increase the speed of the line if all four lines were to open. Having more lines for the students to go to would spread them out and allow a quicker lunch stop for the students who use the cafeteria.
Opening the other two lines would also increase the organization of students. There would no longer have to be a long line extending down the wall and getting in people’s way. Opening all four stations would shorten into 4 short lines that would not get in anyone’s way.
The cafeteria backup is a big problem and the quicker it’s fixed the more beneficial it would be to the students. Students should be able to use their full lunch to do what they want and having a quicker lunch line will only help.
